Townsville City Council's Mount Louisa Community Information Breakfast was a great success with hundreds of residents coming along over the weekend.
About 300 residents came along and provided feedback on the Mount Louisa Open Space Masterplan.
The Mount Louisa Open Space Masterplan was released last month and aims to transform Mount Louisa into an activity and recreation hub – the project is a key pillar for Council's Townsville 2020 Masterplan.
Division 1 Councillor Margie Ryder said the breakfast had been very popular with residents curious about the plans for Mount Louisa.
"It was amazing to see so many people interested in the masterplan for Mount Louisa and providing feedback on the proposals," Cr Ryder said.
Division 5 Councillor Russ Cook said the feedback had been overwhelmingly positive so far.
"We've had hundreds of residents share their thoughts on the Mount Louisa concepts so far, there have been issues raised but so far the community has been very supportive of the plan," Cr Cook said.
Division 7 Councillor Kurt Rehbein said feedback provided by the community is extremely valuable for moving ahead with the project.
"What we now need to do is look at the car parking and traffic options to ensure the project is delivered to benefit all of Townsville while ensuring Mt Louisa residents are looked after," Cr Rehbein said.
"Every formal piece of feedback we receive is vital for informing Council's strategy for Mount Louisa and we do value the community's input.
Division 8 Councillor Maurie Soars said Council is committed to involving residents in the planning process.
"Council will continue to engage with the community about our plans for Mount Louisa – we want residents to be happy and supportive of the end result," Cr Soars said.
The engagement period is currently open until 26 April 2019.
