Huon Road closure

Huon Road closure.png

On Thursday 7 December a section of Huon Road in Fern Tree will be closed to all traffic, including cyclists, to allow for the removal of a dangerous tree that could threaten public safety.

This is a large operation and the road closure, between Chimney Pot Hill Road and Pillinger Drive, will be in effect from 9 am to 3 pm.

Those travelling between Hobart and Fern Tree or kunanyi/Mt Wellington will need to take an alternative route.

The best alternative route is the Southern Outlet from Hobart travelling towards Kingston, on to the Huon Highway, Leslie Road and then Huon Road to Fern Tree.

Depending on traffic the alternative route could add up to 20 minutes travelling time by car or bus.

The map below shows the alternative route.

The road closure will be on the Fern Tree side of Chimney Pot Hill Road, and so Chimney Pot Hill Road will be inaccessible from the Fern Tree side of Huon Road.

The City of Hobart will make every endeavour to remove the tree as quickly as possible and re-open the road to traffic earlier if possible.
