Customers will be empowered to stay safe online, access cost of living savings and learn about their consumer rights as the NSW Government and Salvation Army partner together and bring government services to a NSW-first showcase in Parramatta today.

Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government Victor Dominello said agencies from across government including NSW's nation-leading ID Support NSW would be available in 1 easy location at the Salvation Army Community Services Centre from 10am to 1pm.

"Recent cyber events have shown us it has never been more important than now to learn how to stay safe online," Mr Dominello said.

"Whether it is buying online or signing up digitally for a service, it is important people know how to identify a genuine website and what to do if they find themselves tricked by savvy cyber-criminals.

"This event provides an opportunity for customers to sit down with the ID Support NSW and learn in-depth about staying protected against identity theft and also gives team members the opportunity to listen to concerns from people directly.

"ID Support NSW will also be able to answer people's questions about how they can restore their identity and replace identity documents should they be compromised."

Mr Dominello said the partnership with the Salvation Army was crucial as many who seek the charity's support such as refugees, migrants, the Aboriginal community and seniors, often struggled to engage with government.

"The Salvation Army is a leading charitable organisation and through this event these groups can learn more about what services are available and how they can access a range of savings including Back to School vouchers or energy rebates, as well as learning about tenancy rights and changes to rent bidding rules," Mr Dominello said.

"There will be opportunities to customers to apply for a free birth certificate, seek help in paying a fine, learn how to protect their identity documents and avoid scams, and engage with local members of the emergency services.

"By bringing together so many agencies from across government under one roof we can showcase programs and services to the most vulnerable members of the community and those who need it most."

The event is expected to see over 250 people attend across the four-hour session.

In October 2021, the NSW Government established ID Support NSW, a dedicated support service for people impacted by cybercrime and data compromise. ID Support NSW was set up in the wake of the Service NSW data breach which occurred in 2020.

ID Support NSW helps customers to obtain replacement government issued identity documents as quickly and seamlessly as possible. The service also provides advice of how to keep your personal identity information safe and restore the security of your identity.

ID Support NSW played a pivotal in helping individuals impacted by recent high profile data breaches, including Optus and Medibank. Since 2021, more than 34,000 customers have received support from the service.
