Illicit tobacco and cash seized - Deer Park

Detectives from the Cybercrime Squad have charged two people after seizing illicit tobacco and cash during a warrant in Deer Park.

Police attended a residential property on Robinsons Road on 29 December last year to execute a warrant on an unrelated matter.

During a search of the address, they located almost $400,000 cash, over 5kg of illicit tobacco, tobacco packaging and a conducted energy device.

A 35-year-old Deer Park man was arrested on 13 January and subsequently charged with deal property suspected proceeds of crime and possess prohibited weapon.

He has also been charged with the Commonwealth offence of possess tobacco products with the intent of defrauding the revenue.

A 34-year-old Deer Park woman was arrested today and charged with deal property suspected proceeds of crime and the Commonwealth offence of possess tobacco products with the intent of defrauding the revenue.

The pair have been bailed to appear at Sunshine Magistrates' Court on 24 August.

The investigation remains ongoing and has been conducted with assistance from Australian Border Force.
