The International Labour Organization (ILO), in partnership with the UN Joint Programme Inclusive, Competitive, and Responsible Digital Philippines (Digital-PINAS), has integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE) Programme.
This digital leap aims to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the Philippines with practical, low-cost digital AI tools to boost productivity, workplace cooperation, and innovation.
Since its introduction in 2022, SCORE has supported Philippine enterprises in adopting global best practices in teamwork, occupational safety and health (OSH), and performance tracking.
Now, through Digital-PINAS, the programme enters a new phase as it brings AI directly into SCORE training and factory operations.
SCORE trainers initially participated in a landmark refresher series on AI for Enterprise Improvement Teams (EITs) held on 5-7 August 2025. Led by ILO experts and SCORE Master Trainers, the sessions featured how AI can help SMEs become more agile, data-driven, and competitive.
Key highlights of the AI with SCORE:
- Smarter Collaboration: AI tools now assist EITs in drafting workplace documents, streamlining grievance procedures, and enhancing communication across teams.
- Faster, real-time KPI Tracking: Platforms like Meta AI and ChatGPT enable SMEs to instantly process and visualize data on Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale, and Safety (QCDMS), helping identify trends and respond swiftly.
- AI at work in the factory: Practical applications include predictive maintenance, AI-powered safety checks, and digital dashboards that reduce manual tasks and empower workers to focus on problem-solving.
"AI doesn't replace workers, it empowers them," emphasized one training session, reinforcing the programme's commitment to inclusive innovation and decent work.
ILO and its partners are now calling on enterprises, industry associations, and policymakers to collaborate in scaling AI-powered SCORE nationwide.
The initiative offers SMEs a unique opportunity to modernize operations, strengthen improvement teams, and unlock productivity gains while safeguarding workers' rights.
