Image released following Mentone sexual assault

Moorabbin Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are investigating following a sexual assault at Mentone earlier this month, Victoria Police say.

Police have been told a woman had been exercising on a beachside path, near the intersection of Charman and Beach roads, when she was approached by a man about 7.30pm on Tuesday 7 March.

As the woman walked towards the Bay Trail the man struck up a conversation with her and then sexually assaulted the woman before she managed to run off.

The man is perceived to be of Indian sub-continental appearance, 160-165cm tall between 40 to 60-years-old, short-cropped balding black hair that is greying, a black moustache, with a solid build.

He was wearing a dark-grey polo top and grey pants, possibly with stripes.

Investigators have released a digital facial composite image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
