Immediate closure of Hatchery Bay Trail

Hatchery Bay Trail - Flooded

Following the recent heavy rains and continuing snow melt, water levels in Lake Jindabyne have risen and sections of Hatchery Bay Trail are once again underwater. Council has made the difficult decision to close the trail for the safety of trail users and to limit damage to the trail and surrounding property.

We urge all members of the public to do the right thing. Avoid closed or flooded trails and do not trespass through private property to get around the sections that are underwater.

We share the disappointment of our community and visitors, as it is only two weeks to the day that we were able to announce Hatchery Bay's reopening to the public after months of inundation.

Council continues to work with Jindabyne Trail Stewardship to plan alternative routes for Hatchery Bay, ensuring that in the future, the rerouted trail will stay above water.
