Imperial and Trumptech partnership to boost science teacher training in Hong Kong with digital tools and tailored resources for schools.
Imperial College London welcomed representatives from Trumptech, a leading digital education provider based in Hong Kong, to its South Kensington campus this week. The visit marked a key moment in strengthening international education ties, as Imperial and Trumptech formalised a new partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The ceremony on Imperial's South Kensington campus celebrated the launch of a new partnership aimed at enhancing science teacher training in Hong Kong. Trumptech delivers digital education services on behalf of the Hong Kong Education Bureau, and this collaboration will see Imperial and Trumptech provide a series of joint educational initiatives.
The MOU was signed by Professor Peter Haynes, Vice-Provost (Education and Student Experience) on behalf of Imperial and Ming Kwok, CEO of Trumptech.

At the same event, Heather Haseley, Managing Director of the Institute of Extended Learning (IEL), confirmed plans for a three-year collaboration with Trumptech to develop online science teaching resources tailored to the new Hong Kong primary science curriculum. The formal agreement, which will be signed digitally by the end of July, marks the start of a project that will later expand to support secondary school educators as well.
The project is supported by the UK Department for Business and Trade (DBT). The Hong Kong Secretary for Education visited Imperial in May to learn about the university's experience in enabling STEMMB education in primary and secondary schools, as well as the design and development of relevant teaching materials for schools. Representatives from both organisations attended the ceremony, underseeing the importance of the partnership in strengthening UK-Hong Kong educational ties.
Professor Peter Haynes, Vice-Provost (Education and Student Experience) said: "This partnership represents an exciting opportunity for Imperial to support the training of primary school teachers in Hong Kong through our Institute of Extended Learning. By combining our experience of equipping teachers to deliver engaging science lessons with Trumptech's local insight and digital reach, we will support the development of a lifelong curiosity about science among school pupils across the region."
The IEL is Imperial's hub for designing and delivering innovative, flexible learning experiences that extend the university's reach beyond traditional degree programmes. The teams (Professional Development and Summer Programmes and the Interdisciplinary EdTech Lab) work with global partners to co-create impactful education that meets the evolving needs of learners and educators worldwide.
Heather Haseley, Managing Director of the Institute of Extended Learning, said: "We are delighted to partner with Trumptech in designing tailored learning experiences that equip primary teachers with the knowledge, skills, and tools to inspire future generations of scientists in Hong Kong."
Ming Kwok, CEO of Trumptech, said: "This partnership combines Imperial's educational expertise with Trumptech's leading educational technology to better equip science teachers in Hong Kong for the future. Leveraging Trumptech's extensive network and digital reach, we are establishing a strong foundation for meaningful contributions to education in the region."
