Important information for 2020 election candidates

Nominations to stand as a candidate for the Boroondara City Council election open on Thursday 17 September 2020.

The eligibility requirements for candidates have recently changed. The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) advises prospective candidates to ensure they meet these requirements before nominating.

One of the new requirements includes undertaking mandatory online candidate training before lodging your nomination. This includes candidates who are currently or have previously been a councillor.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the VEC is streaming its candidate information session online. This information session is being complemented by state-wide interactive candidate seminars scheduled for:

  • 7pm on Wednesday 9 September
  • 1pm on Sunday 13 September
  • 5pm on Tuesday 15 September

Prospective candidates will have until midday Tuesday 22 September to get their nominations in. Late nominations will not be accepted.
