Impound after collision with unmarked police vehicle in South Melbourne

Officers from the Public Order Response Team impounded a vehicle after a collision in South Melbourne yesterday morning.

The driver of the white Mitsubishi Triton ute, a 41-year-old Tarneit man, was travelling north along Queens Road when he sided swiped an unmarked police vehicle just after 4am.

The collision caused minor damage to the side mirror on the police vehicle however the driver failed to stop.

Officers followed the vehicle and intercepted the man a short time later on Kings Way.

He returned an alleged positive evidentiary breath test of 0.106.

His vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $896.10.

The man is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving, fail to stop after a collision and other traffic related offences.
