State Highway Patrol officers have impounded a car after a drug driver was picked up in Lucknow this morning.

The white Nissan utility was intercepted on Princes Highway at a pop-up checkpoint about 7.40am.

The driver, who was disqualified from driving, also allegedly tested positive to a preliminary drug test before he refused to accompany police for an evidentiary drug test.

The 30-year-old Nicholson man's vehicle was impounded for thirty days at a cost of $1,325.

He is expected to be charged on summons with driving whilst disqualified, refusing to accompany for an oral fluid test and using an unsafe vehicle.
