Council's Works team will be at Whian Road from the middle of March.

The crew will be working on improving the surface on approximately 1.5km of Whian Road to make it easier for drivers.

Phil Holloway, Director Infrastructure Services, said a lot of drivers are now using Whian Road and Kings Road since the closure of Federal Drive in early March 2022 due to a landslip.

"With Federal Drive closed for much of last year and until at least the middle of 2023, the increased traffic on Whian Road has seen a deterioration in the surface," Mr Holloway said.

"We know that this is testing the patience of residents in that area and this work that we are going to do should make their daily commute a little bit easier," he said.

The work is due to start in mid-March and will take four to six weeks to finish.

There will be delays for drivers but Council will try to keep them as short as possible.

In the meantime the tenders to fix the Federal Drive landslip are being assessed and a report is being prepared for Council.

The landslip is extremely complex and difficult to manage the road remains closed to all traffic and pedestrians.

Information about the reconstruction of Federal Drive is on Council's website.
