Improving Henry Road intersection in Pakenham

Vic Department of Transport

In 2020 we removed the level crossing at Cardinia Road, Pakenham as part a $16 billion investment to upgrade the Pakenham line. As part of additional works, the Cardinia Road and Henry Road, Pakenham intersection will be upgraded.

Safety and traffic flow will be improved at the Cardinia Road and Henry Road, Pakenham intersection meaning the vehicles travelling through it each day will spend less time stuck at the lights.

An additional right turning lane from Cardinia Road to Henry Road and a new slip lane turning left onto Cardinia Road from Bridge Road will improve traffic flow. Additional signage and line markings will be added for the new turning lanes, and pedestrian crossings will be re-aligned.

Work on the intersection and new car park will be completed by the Level Crossing Removal Project. It will start in the coming month and be complete by the end of the year. The intersection will remain open during construction, there will be traffic and pedestrian impacts at times, please refer to signage in the area.
