Benalla Rural City Council is working collaboratively with Benalla Health to set up a second COVID-19 testing site at the Benalla Showgrounds.

As at 2pm Wednesday 6 October there were no exposure sites reported in Benalla Rural City.

The setting up of an additional testing station is a proactive step to ensure that the Benalla region has ample testing capacity should the situation change in the coming days.

Benalla Rural City Council Mayor Cr Danny Claridge said that the establishment of a higher capacity testing was purely a precautionary step.

"At this stage we don't have any local COVID-19 exposures sites, however, the Council is working in partnership with Benalla Health to help protect our community should the need arise."

The additional testing site will only be activated on the advice from Benalla Health. Opening and closing times will then be broadly advertised widely to inform the community.
