Input wanted on new Broadford play spaces

Broadford is getting two new play spaces and Mitchell Shire Council is looking for input on the draft designs.

People are being asked to participate in two surveys to help finalise the designs for a new play space at Memorial Park in High Street and a new play space at the Community Precinct behind the Broadford Living and Learning Centre, Youth Centre and skate park.

Council has spoken with various community groups in Broadford to help develop the draft designs and is now looking for input from the wider community.

The first project is an upgrade of Memorial Park play space in Broadford's main street, including new play equipment, shade sail, picnic table and fencing.

The second project is in the Community Precinct where the Broadford Living and Learning Centre is located. The area also contains a youth facility, skate park, community gardens, Men's shed, family and early learning centre and police station. The plans feature a new nature play space and sensory garden while also improving connecting pathways and the community garden beds

The play spaces, as well as another outdoor fitness equipment project are funded by the Victorian Government's Growing Suburbs Fund (GSF) fund. The total GSF contribution of $4.83 million was provided across projects in Mitchell, this includes $720,000 for the Broadford play spaces. The outdoor fitness equipment element of this project will go to community consultation separately and at a later date.
