Mitchell Shire Council is activating Ryans Creek Reserve in Kilmore and is seeking community input on the proposed elements before more detailed plans and designs are developed.
With $1 million for stage 1 activation provided through the Victorian Government's Growing Suburbs Fund, the new space will provide a much needed recreation area for people living in developing areas of Kilmore's west.
Council has identified some key items to include in the reserve and wants community input before proceeding to more detailed plans and designs.
Proposed elements include:
- play equipment
- picnic shelters
- seating
- half-court basketball area
- shade sail
- barbeque
- connecting pathways
- solar lighting
- landscaping.
A drop in session will be held at the reserve on Tuesday 28 May from 5 to 6pm. Council staff will be on the pathway at the southern end of Pauline Way.

"We want people in our community to be able to access quality parks. It's great for their physical and mental health and it helps bring people together and create a real sense of community.
"Thanks to the Growing Suburbs Fund, we've been able to upgrade playgrounds and build new ones right across our shire in recent years.
"The Ryans Creek Reserve activation project will help improve this reserve as a community gathering space.
"Longer term, the reserve will form part of a larger, connected network of parks for our growing residential areas in Kilmore's west."
