Inquiries continue into discovery of body - South Coast

Inquiries are continuing into the final movements of a man who was found lying face down in a waterway on the state's South Coast yesterday.

Emergency services were called to a property just off Island Point Road in St Georges Basin shortly after 9am (Wednesday 29 April 2020), following reports the body of a man was found floating face down in the water behind the house.

Officers from South Coast Police District established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The man has since been formally identified as a 32-year-old who was believed to be staying with relatives in the area prior to his death.

Detectives are now piecing together the man's final movements, and are appealing for anyone who may have seen him between the hours of 2am and 9am yesterday (Wednesday 29 April 2020).

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 170cm tall, with short brown hair. He was found wearing dark pants, blue shoes and a black long sleeve shirt with circular symbols on the front and rear shoulder.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
