Inquiries continue to locate outstanding offender - Central Coast

Inquiries are continuing to locate an outstanding offender following yesterday's critical incident on the Central Coast.

Shortly after 9am yesterday (Thursday 15 October 2020), officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District attended Minnesota Road at Hamlyn Terrace, after a stolen vehicle was tracked to the location following an earlier pursuit.

Shots were fired during a confrontation, where a 37-year-old man died at the scene.

A crime scene was established and held overnight.

A critical incident team from the Homicide Squad will conduct an investigation into all circumstances surrounding the incident. That investigation will be subject to an independent review.

All information will be provided to the Coroner who will determine the cause of death and make any findings about the events leading to the man's death.

Extensive police resources have been tasked to the Hamlyn Terrace area today (Friday 16 October 2020), including Tuggerah Lakes and Brisbane Water PD officers, State Crime Command Homicide Squad, Police Dog Unit and Tactical Operations Unit, to locate a second man involved in the incident; he remains outstanding.

Extensive inquiries remain ongoing. Police do not believe there is any ongoing threat to residents in the nearby area.
