Inquiries Underway After Fisherman Dies At Wollongong

Inquiries are underway after a fisherman died after being swept into water in Wollongong this morning.

Just after 6.15am (Friday 18 April 2025), emergency services were called to Endeavor Drive at the Wollongong Harbour, following reports a man was pulled from the water unconscious.

Officers from Wollongong Police District attended and attempted to assist the 58-year-old man; however, he could not be revived and died at the scene.

Initial inquiries have led police to believe the man was fishing on a rock wall nearby when he was swept into the water.

Investigations into the incident are underway and any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are urged to come forward.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
