The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) will be installing interim traffic lights on Lithgow Street in Beveridge to improve road safety and traffic management.
The signals will be placed at the intersection of Lithgow Street and the Old Hume Highway/Hume Freeway on-ramp.
The works are scheduled to take place on Saturday 12 July, subject to the contractor's program of works. Traffic management will be in effect throughout the duration of the works, with delays expected.
DTP have carried out investigations to optimise the signal phasing during peak demand and will monitor the operation of the lights after installation to make any improvements. The amount of time for the interim traffic lights to change can't be done remotely to adapt to traffic volumes. Any changes to the timing will need to be carried out on site.
These traffic signals are an interim measure as DTP, Stockland Developers, and Mitchell Shire Council work toward permanent solutions to improve traffic flow and safety.
