Services will be held in the Top End and Alice Springs:
· Bushfires NT Headquarters, Acacia Hills at 10am on Friday 2 May.
· Wall of Remembrance, Darwin Cenotaph at 11.45am on Sunday 4 May.
· Alice Springs Fire Station at 11.45am on Sunday 4 May.
In the lead up to International Firefighters' Day, the NT Fire and Rescue Service (NTFRS) has unveiled a new fire truck - a Scania Heavy Urban Pumper, with call sign Marrara 44. The new truck will be stationed at Marrara Fire Station and service the greater Darwin area. It is capable of:
· Pumping 4,890 litres of water per minute
· Carrying 2,800 litres of water
· Carrying 180 litres of foam concentrate
It is also kitted out with a full suite of new battery-operated road rescue equipment.
The recent formation of the NT Fire and Emergency Services, which combines the NT Fire and Rescue Service, Bushfires NT and NT Emergency Service into one agency, enhances our ability to respond to emergencies while prioritising community resilience.
