Intruder falls through roof at Hindmarsh, SA

A man is in hospital after falling through a roof during a break-in at Hindmarsh this morning, according to SA Police.

Alarms activated at the Port Road business just after 3.30am on Friday 17 June.

Police patrols, including Police Dog Ben and his handler, responded and located a break-in and a man inside the premises. He had fallen about six metres through the roof, landing on a filing cabinet and had sustained injuries.

Paramedics attended the scene and the injured man was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

The intruder and attending police were also exposed to asbestos from the broken ceiling, however, it is believed to be low risk.

The 22-year-old Brompton man was arrested and is expected to be charged with serious criminal trespass and property damage later this morning.
