Investigation underway into aggravated break-in at Fairfield

Police are investigating an aggravated break and enter at a home in Sydney's south-west overnight.

About 7.45pm yesterday (Saturday 8 February 2020), two men forced their way into a residence on Neerini Avenue, Fairfield, where they reportedly confronted the 64-year-old male resident with a small firearm.

Following a demand for cash, the two men assaulted the resident before fleeing empty handed.

The 64-year-old man contacted neighbours, who alerted authorities.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene, which has been examined by specialist forensic officers.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics treated the man for a minor head injury before taking him to Fairfield Hospital for further treatment.

Local detectives also attended the home and commenced an investigation into the incident.
