Investigations continue after pedestrian hit by van in Waterloo

Police continue to appeal for information after a pedestrian was hit by a van in Waterloo this morning, NSW Police say.

Just after 6am today, a man, who is yet to be identified, was walking along South Dowling Street when he is believed to have moved to Southern Cross Drive near Dacey Avenue.

A van was travelling north along Southern Cross Drive at the same time, when the two collided.

The pedestrian suffered leg and head injuries and was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the van stopped after the crash was taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Redfern Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances leading up to the incident and are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may know the identity of the man to come forward.

The pedestrian is described as being of Caucasian appearance, with upper-body tattoos and was only wearing football shorts.
