Investigations continuing into West Park Oval incident

Burnie CIB is continuing to investigate an incident at West Park Oval on Saturday, after a football player was injured during an out-of-play melee.

The incident occurred in the third quarter of a football game between Penguin and Burnie, about 3:50pm.

Detective Inspector Steve Jones said police are appealing to the community for assistance.

"We're calling on witnesses to come forward and provide assistance to investigators," he said.

"Police take any instances of assault seriously, and we need the community's help to make sure those responsible are properly identified."

Anyone with video footage of the incident is asked to submit it to this evidence portal.
