Investing in Pitt Town's future

An exciting new regional park, road upgrades and improvements to playgrounds and footpaths are coming soon to the historic community of Pitt Town.

These improvements are being planned following extensive consultation, drawing together priority projects identified by the community.

Hawkesbury City Mayor Patrick Conolly said these investments highlight Council's commitment to the community of Pitt Town and surrounds.

"Pitt Town is one of our fastest growing towns and Council understands the importance of supporting this growth with the infrastructure and public spaces needed to maintain the quality of life for residents," Mayor Conolly said.

"I'm particularly excited about Fernadell Park, and I look forward to seeing this space transformed into a beautiful park that everyone can enjoy, whether it's a leisurely walk or picnic, kicking a ball around with your children or participating in organised sport.

"I encourage everyone to jump onto www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au to have your say on this and the other projects we have planned for Pitt Town."

Fernadell Park

At Fernadell Drive, Council plans to build a 9ha park that will serve as a recreation and sporting hub for Pitt Town. Fernadell Park would be developed in four stages over the next few years and could include football and cricket fields, netball and multisport courts, playground, youth space, dog off leash area, amenities building, picnic shelters with barbecues, lakeside decking, walking paths and car parking.

The Draft Masterplan for Fernadell Park is currently on exhibition. Residents can view it and have their say on www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au until Thursday, 8 July 2021.

Road improvements

Council has committed to a number of important road improvements in Pitt Town. These improvements are due to commence in June and will take approximately five months to complete.

These improvements include improvements to Bathurst Street, Hall Street, Hawkesbury Street, Johnston Street, Wells Street and Punt Road.

Priority projects

Council set aside $150,000 this financial year for improvements to local parks and paths in Pitt Town.

Council has already committed $40,000 of this funding to supporting the building of public restrooms at Bona Vista Park in partnership with the NSW Government.

Following consultation with Pitt Town residents in late 2020, a list of priority projects was drawn up for the remaining $110,000. The community are now being asked to vote on their preferred projects on www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au by Friday, 11 June 2021.
