Traffic conditions in Iodide Street have returned to normal after roadworks near Morgan Street School were completed ahead of schedule.

Iodide Street including kerbs and gutters have been reconstructed between Morgan and Union Streets, and the Morgan/Iodide intersection has also been reconstructed.

Council staff and contractors from GTE Pty Ltd worked over the past nine weeks on the project, reaching completion one week ahead of schedule.

Group Manager Infrastructure and Projects, Codie Howard, thanked the community for their patience throughout the works.

"Roadworks always cause noise and inconvenience, and we really appreciate the patience shown by people who live in the area," he said.

"The consideration shown by families dropping kids off at school under changed traffic conditions was also great to see.

"I'd also like to thank the GTE team and our Infrastructure Projects Engineer, Bibek Bhattarai, for completing the works within budget and in such a timely fashion."

The Iodide-Morgan reconstruction project was funded by the Commonwealth Government via the Roads To Recovery program, and Broken Hill City Council.
