IOM Spokesperson Addresses Nepal-China Floods

IOM

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is deeply saddened by the loss of life and widespread destruction caused by the recent floods along the Nepal-China border. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of those who have lost loved ones and stand in solidarity with all communities affected by this disaster.

The floods have caused significant damage to homes, infrastructure and livelihoods, disrupting access to essential services and leaving many people in urgent need of assistance. As assessments continue, the full scale of humanitarian needs is still emerging.

IOM stands ready to support relief and recovery efforts in China and Nepal, in line with identified needs and national priorities.

In Nepal, IOM is already in close contact with authorities and humanitarian partners to contribute to a coordinated response. This builds on IOM's long-standing partnership with the Government of Nepal, supporting previous disaster responses through shelter and non-food items, site management, health, data, early recovery and livelihoods.
