Isolated Firearm Incident - West Ulverstone Man Charged

Police have charged a 25-year-old West Ulverstone man with several offences following an isolated incident at West Ulverstone on Thursday 21 March 2024.

The man has been charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault and offences relative to firearms and ammunition possession. He is due to appear in the Devonport Magistrates Court on Friday 22 March 2024.

Police will allege the incident occurred between people known to each other and at no stage was there any risk to the public. No-one was injured during the incident.

Detective Senior Sergeant Alex Bonde of Western CIB said illicit firearms are not welcome in our community, and we'll continue to pursue individuals who want to engage in their possession or use.

"Tasmania Police are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of Tasmanians and we'll employ all resources at our disposal to investigate and hold those responsible to account."
