This year's International Women's Day event, to be held at The Crossing Café on Wednesday is a sell-out, with 177 local men and women attending.

Edward River Council's deputy mayor Pat Fogarty said the success of the event was due to the importance of the occasion, celebrating the contributions women make to work, family and community.

"We are delighted to co-ordinate and support the annual International Women's Day event along with our partners BEC Business Advice and the Deniliquin Business Chamber. We were overwhelmed with how quickly the event sold out and have managed to increase numbers from 150 to 177 to accommodate as many people as possible in a Covid-safe setting," Cr. Fogarty said.

Council will be livestreaming the event so others can enjoy the address by former local and CEO of Regional Australia Institute Liz Ritchie and there is a waitlist for those who missed out – should there be any cancellations.
