Campaspe Shire Council in collaboration with independent producing house Quiet Riot Creative invites community members to step back into the age of the jazz speakeasy for a sparkling evening of live music accompanied by refreshments at Rushworth on Friday, 1 May.
The Jazz Supper Club event will transform the historic Rushworth Hall into a lively yet intimate nightspot, featuring an unforgettable performance by acclaimed jazz artist Fem Belling, along with Picola-based band Broken Creek.
An award-winning South African-born Australian jazz vocalist and violinist who has also performed as a leading lady in stage musicals in London's West End, Fem Belling brings her intimate live show to Rushworth for a one-night-only performance. Joined by her brother Zvi Belling on double bass and long-time collaborator Patrick Jaffe on keys, the trio will take the audience on a journey through the golden age of jazz.
Broken Creek is the creation of Erin and Lachlan Heycox. Weaving original and compelling musical reimagining of Australiana for banjo, guitar, fiddle and voice, their music tells stories from Australia's
past as well as its present.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Cr Daniel Mackrell said the night promised to be a fun and social way to enjoy outstanding music close to home.
"Whether you're a jazz lover or just want an excuse to enjoy a night out with friends, this event offers something special for everyone."
Doors will open at 5:30pm, with the live show running from 6pm to 9pm. Each table seats four, with a maximum of four tickets per booking. Tickets cost $20 per person and include finger food. Drinks will be available at bar prices.
Cr Mackrell encouraged guests to embrace the vibe of the 1930s jazz era if they wish, to help set the scene.
"Think elegant, vintage, and a little bit fabulous," he said.
"But regardless of whether you choose to dress the part or not, it's sure to be an evening to remember."

Council encourages residents to secure their tickets early, as capacity is limited and the event is expected to sell out.
