JCU Continues To Shine In Good Unis Guide

James Cook University has continued its incredible streak of being rated 5 out of 5 stars for undergraduate full-time employment in the latest edition of The Good Universities Guide.

This incredible result sees JCU as the only Queensland university to receive a five-star rating for undergraduate employment for the past 15 years.

JCU ranked number one in Queensland and fourth nationally for undergraduate full-time employment. The University was also ranked number one in Queensland (11th nationally) for postgraduate full-time employment.

The Guide also awarded JCU with five stars for postgraduate starting salary, with that average figure of $108,500 good for number one in Queensland and number three nationally.

JCU was also awarded five stars by the guide for:

  • Social equity (the proportion of students in a university's entire cohort of domestic students who are from a low socio-economic or disadvantaged background)
  • Student teacher ratio, placing it sixth overall of all universities nationally
  • Postgraduate student support; and
  • Postgraduate teaching quality

JCU Vice Chancellor Professor Simon Biggs was delighted with the results and said they reflect the University's aptitude in producing job-ready, capable and adaptable graduates.

"At JCU we are very proud to offer out students a learning environment where they can go on to thrive in their chosen careers," Prof Biggs.

"Maintaining our five-star rating for undergraduate employment over 15 years really highlights the excellence of JCU's teaching staff.

"It is their tireless work that helps our students realise their dreams. Our graduates continue to be in strong demand across all industries and we are very proud of all of their success."
