Contractors are hard at work on the Jindabyne Shared Trail project, with construction continuing on the Sri Chinmoy/Green Climb, Whoop D Doo, Knights in Shining Armour, Orbital and several new Green Flow trails over the next two weeks.
For the safety of the public and workers on site, the listed trails are closed to the public until works are complete. Signs and temporary exclusion fencing are in place.
More milestones are coming up very soon, with Missing Link Trail nearly complete and ready to reopen in the fortnight ahead and two brand new trails — the temporarily named Trail 28 and Trail 29 — ready to open as soon as the bridge connecting them to the rest of the network is finished.
Jindabyne Trail Stewardship held their community trail building education and open day last week. It was great to see so many people getting involved, getting their hands dirty with our local volunteer trail legends, and learning how the experts approach the work of designing and building great trails.
Volunteer-built trail lines from the open day are almost to ready ride, with opening dates to be announced soon.
Council reminds local and visiting trail users to please keep out and stay off under-construction trails and trail sections. Small numbers of people have continued to enter closed trail construction areas in recent weeks and months, repeatedly causing damage to these publicly funded works.
Our local Jindabyne-based contractors have to devote their limited budgets and time to repairing this damage, instead of continuing their work to deliver new and upgraded trails for the benefit of our community.
Following recent wet weather and with further rain forecast, all recently completed trails and in-progress trail works are especially vulnerable to damage.
Please help ensure that all the hard work that's gone into building the new and upgraded trail network doesn't go to waste. Keep off recent and in-progress works until things have dried out.
Thank you to the overwhelming majority of residents and visitors that continue to do the right thing. We appreciate your patience and we're all excited to welcome you onto the completed trails and expanded trail network in the very near future.
The Jindabyne Shared Trail project is proudly funded by the NSW Government.
