COVID19 is doing more damage to our Territory economy than any natural disaster ever has, and the Territory Labor Government is so far investing $120 million to protect Territory businesses and Territory jobs.
The Territory Labor Government today announced the next stage of their jobs rescue plan, launching the Territory Jobs Hub platform. The platform will be used to connect Territory employers with Territory jobseekers who have been effected by the economic impacts of the coronavirus crisis.
While many industries are being hit hard by this crisis, some industries still need more Territorians working. For example, the agriculture industry will need local workers to help in the fruit and vegetable farming sector expecting a shortfall of 2500 workers in 2020, given the dramatic reduction in overseas and seasonal workers.
The Territory Jobs Hub will be run in conjunction with the Industry Capability Network NT and will work by:
- Giving employers an online portal to post free advertisements for work
- Giving job seekers a portal to find work quickly
Many sectors will benefit from this new one stop shop Hub, with the Chamber of Commerce, NT Farmers and Hospitality NT receiving a demonstration on how the Territory Jobs Hub will operate.
Whether it be finding takeaway drivers, fruit and vegetable packers and pickers, the Territory Labor Government is doing all that it can to continue to support local business and find jobs for Territorians.
