John Doyle coming to big screen in Violet Town

Rampaging Roy, a character created by John Doyle, will join guests on the big screen on the lawns at the Violet Town Community House for this year's Victorian Seniors Festival Reimagined.

Doyle created the character in 1985, alongside H.G. Nelson, and his new book Blessed follows one year in the life of the boy who would become Roy, who, even at the age of fifteen knew he was destined for greatness, but just had to get through high school first.

Doyle will talk about his new book and guests will get an opportunity to ask a question. For those that can't make it to the venue on the day, this event will also be live streamed on YouTube.

Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Chris Raeburn said the event was sure to be a laugh.

"We're excited to bring Rampaging Roy Slaven to Violet Town on the big screen to hear his tales," Cr Raeburn said.

"This event will be a great way to come together and share in some laughter and good times.

"It is particularly important for our senior community, some of which are isolated and vulnerable, to take this opportunity to reconnect after recent lockdowns."
