John Stokes Residential Precinct Nearing Completion

Construction is well underway on 78 new social housing homes at the John Stokes Residential Precinct.

The John Stokes Square residential development will provide seniors and people living with disabilities a central community hub whilst improving the neighbourhood and reinvigorating the area.

Local construction company, Greenspace is delivering the project, which is due to be completed by mid-2022.

These new social housing residence will be managed by a Community Housing Provider (CHP), with the Territory Government working through the current tender process to appoint a provider.

So far works on the project has seen two towers complete with the third tower well underway. The redevelopment will provide 78 new social housing units specifically designed for seniors and people living with disabilities comprising:

three new, purpose-built, four-story housing accommodation blocks66 one bedroom and 12 two bedroom unitsspace for non-government organisations on the ground floor and internal parking with storage spacescommunal breakout areas within each level in each unit blockcommunal gardens.

The transfer of asset and tenancy management of the Precinct to a CHP is designed to promote community participation, place-making and social inclusion for social housing tenants.
