Expression of Interest: Help shape our new project focusing on improving access to domestic and family violence services for women and children with disability in the Bourke LGA

Friday 19 September
The Remote Reach project aims to strengthen Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) services in the Bourke LGA in Western New South Wales to be more inclusive, accessible, and culturally responsive, thereby improving access to services for women and children with disability.
About the Project
Remote Reach recognises that many DFV organisations operate in underfunded and under-resourced environments. The project therefore focuses on practical, cost-effective strategies that can be sustained by services, and that clearly signal culturally appropriate safety and inclusion for women and children with disability.
Importantly, the PWDA training and projects team is comprised of people with disability with lived experience of DFV.
The project will
- Centre lived experience and community voices through face-to-face consultations and co-design.
- Deliver disability training to build the skills and confidence of DFV service providers in engaging with women and children with disability.
- Develop practical, locally relevant strategies to enhance accessibility, reduce barriers, and improve safety and support for First Nations women and children with disability.
- Co-design resources and training with local Elders, leaders, service providers, and community members that reflect community strengths, knowledge, and priorities.
- Apply a participatory action research approach so those most impacted shape project outcomes.
