Join Towards 2042 Consultation, Shape Wingecarribee's Future

Wingecarribee Shire

Providing a solid foundation for shaping the future of our community, Towards 2042 is a project driven by the Canberra Joint Region Organisation (CJRO), of which Wingecarribee Shire Council is a member along with other regional Councils. The CJRO is a government body that provides regional leadership to connect communities within the South East region, collaborating with all levels of government, industry and community to provide a vibrant regional vision and deliver important, key outcomes.

Wingecarribee Shire Council invites you to be part of the Towards 2042 consultation and will guide community members through important discussions around the main aspirations and priorities for our local government area (LGA) for the next 20 years. Your input will be documented in the Strategic Plan.

All New South Wales councils must work with their community to develop a Community Strategic Plan. This stems from the central assumption that all Council planning should originate from a sound understanding of the community's expectations around priorities.

Wingecarribee Shire Council Administrator Mr Viv May said, "This is in line with our collaborative approach to shaping the future of our Shire in close collaboration with our community and we encourage community members to take this opportunity to share your ideas and influence decisions. It's a chance to envisage what you, your friends, family and the wider community will need to grow and thrive towards 2042."

Mr May shared that Council looked forward to collaborating with the community on this critical project.

The Towards 2042, community consultation will commence with a range of activities across Wingecarribee Shire, including a survey which can be completed online at Participate Wingecarribee.

"There will be several easy and convenient ways for people to share their thoughts, including surveys, pop-ups, and for our younger residents, creative drawing kits." Mr May said. Visit www.participatewingecarribee.wsc.nsw.gov.au for details.

"We all share aspirations for a better future. Towards 2042 allows us to consider what we love about where we live, what we'd like our future to look like, and how we will get there. Together, we can document a future vision that respects the uniqueness of the place where we live and the lifestyle we enjoy here." Mr May said.

Towards 2042 asks the local community some key questions to guide Council's review our Community Strategic Plan, so that it is an accurate representation of the future we want to see.

Council has a custodial role in initiating and preparing the Community Strategic Plan, but it is a community plan. Many partners, such as state agencies and community groups, will be responsible for its implementation. The Community Strategic Plan ensures the whole community is working towards a shared vision for a better future.
