Join Upper Murrumbidgee First Nations Advisory Group

We are seeking expressions of interest from First Nations people who:

  • have demonstrated connection to traditional Country within the Upper Murrumbidgee Catchment
  • are interested in becoming members of the Upper Murrumbidgee Catchment First Nations Advisory Group.

This First Nations Advisory Group shares ideas and advice on managing water resources in the Upper Murrumbidgee catchment. This group highlights the need to include First Nations knowledge, values, and priorities in water resource management. This is vital for decisions that impact traditional Country and communities.

The Advisory Group works across NSW, the ACT, and Australian Government roles. It knows the connections in the area and honours the traditional territories of First Nations peoples.

The First Nations Advisory Group aims to:

  • advise the ACT, NSW and Australian Governments on First Nations cultural values, knowledge systems, and key priorities. Focus on water management issues and programs in the Upper Murrumbidgee catchment.
  • advise review panel on possible changes to how Snowy water resources are managed. This is based on the Snowy Water Inquiry Outcomes Implementation Deed (SWIOID). The Terms of Reference for the SWIOID Review are available at: Improving the health of the Upper Murrumbidgee.
  • include First Nations views to water resource planning and management in the Upper Murrumbidgee Catchment, such as:
    • Restoring the Upper Murrumbidgee River Program
    • ACT and Region Catchment Strategy
