Georges River Council is inviting the community to join the Wrap With Love Annual Knit-In at Clive James Library, Kogarah, on Friday, 28 August.
Hosted by the Kogarah Knitters community group, this free event welcomes everyone. People can knit, crochet, and help make warm blankets for those facing extreme cold and hardship. Every knitted square contributes to a larger blanket, providing warmth and comfort to someone in need.
Since 1992, Wrap With Love has provided handmade wraps to people in need across Australia and around the world. With the support of volunteers, the organisation has delivered more than 400,000 wraps to people in over 75 countries.
The event welcomes people aged 12 years and over, with all equipment and instruction provided. Participants are also welcome to bring their own wool and knitting needles. Donations of wool and unfinished knitting projects are encouraged.
Mayor Borg said the event highlights the generosity and community spirit that Georges River is known for.
"The Wrap With Love Annual Knit-In unites people to support those facing tough times. It also strengthens connections within our community," Mayor Borg said.
"Our libraries aren't just for learning and creativity. They're also spaces where people unite to support important causes," she said.
"I encourage everyone to drop in, enjoy a chat over a cuppa and help create something that will make a meaningful difference to someone's life."
