The WA Police Organised Crime Squad and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) have seized 18kg of MDMA (ecstasy) and 10kg of methylamphetamine after a joint investigation.
The investigation culminated in search warrants at properties in Alexander Heights, Breera (south of Gingin) and North Perth on Monday April 3, 2017, WA Police say.
About 18kg of MDMA was located during the search at Alexander Heights, while about 10kg of methylamphetamine was located during the search of a vehicle at Breera.
Three unlicensed firearms were also located during the search at Breera. A fourth unlicensed firearm and about $60,000 cash was seized during the search at the North Perth home.
The investigation resulted in charges being laid against three men, as follows:
•A 25-year-old Landsdale man has been charged with one count of Possess With Intent to Sell or Supply (in related to the MDMA);
•A 26-year-old Noranda man has been charged with one count of Possess With Intent to Sell or Supply (in relation to the methylamphetamine);
•A 43-year-old North Perth man has been charged with four counts of possess unlicensed firearm and one count of unlawful possession of cash.
WA Police Deputy Commissioner Gary Dreibergs said the investigation had prevented significant quantities of dangerous illicit drugs from reaching the community.
"The 18kg of ecstasy represents up to 90,000 individual hits worth up to $2.7 million, while the 10kg of methylamphetamine represents up to 100,000 hits worth up to $10 million," Mr Dreibergs said.
"These drugs have significant health and social impacts upon our community, and we ask all community members with information about this illicit trade to come forward with information."
ACIC State Manager WA Operations, Mr Doug Miller, said this joint operation demonstrates the value of state and federal law enforcement agencies working in conjunction to combat illicit drugs.
"We are committed to working with our partners to discover, understand and respond to serious and organised crime," Mr Miller said.
The accused men have been refused bail and are due to appear in court at a later date.
