Joondalup Driving Charge

Police have charged a 42-year-old man with a driving related offence after he was arrested near Joondalup Magistrates Court on Monday 22 August 2022.
It will be alleged the man was appearing in Joondalup Magistrates Court, being sentenced for a number of traffic related offences. During this appearance, the man received $6,500 in fines and an additional four and a half years to his pre-existing license suspension order.
It will be alleged the man exited Joondalup Magistrates Court, walked to a carpark at a nearby shopping centre, entered a vehicle and drove away from the area.
This activity was observed by officers from State Traffic Command who quickly arrested the man and immediately placed him before the same magistrate, who had previously sentenced the man earlier in the day.
The man was charged with one count of 'No Authority to Drive', was remanded in custody by the court, and is next due to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court, via video link, today, Friday 26 August 2022.
The 2022 Toyota LandCruiser GR Sport the man was driving has been impounded for 28 days.
