Rugby Australia and the Queensland Reds are pleased to confirm Josh Canham has signed a contract extension through to the end of 2027.
Already signed for next year, Canham's extension has seen him re-commit to Australian Rugby until at least the home Rugby World Cup in just under two years' time.
Born in the USA, Canham grew up in Melbourne, playing his first Rugby for the Harlequin Junior Rugby Club - the same junior club as fellow Wallabies Rob Valetini and Hunter Paisami.
He continued to develop in the Victorian Rugby system and was selected for the Australia Under 20s in 2021, before making his Super Rugby debut for the Melbourne Rebels in 2022.
The lock went on to play 34 matches for the club, before shifting to the Queensland Reds at the end of 2024 - playing his first game for the Brisbane-based club against Wales in July of that year.
With a towering 202cm, 118kg frame, Canham was first selected in a Wallabies squad during the 2024 Rugby Championship and became Wallaby number 987 when he debuted against Argentina in Santa Fe.
A strong 2025 Super Rugby Pacific campaign, where he featured 14 times for the Reds, saw the 24-year-old named in the Wallabies' squad for the British & Irish Lions Series.
Wallaby number 987 and Queensland Reds lock, Josh Canham said: "The professionalism of the coaches at the Reds, the facilities, a very exciting playing group and an exciting style of footy, I like playing, make the Reds the place I want to be.
"Being in that Wallabies environment every day on tour enabled me to work on individual skills and understand the ins-and-outs of how the Wallabies go about things. I'm definitely going to be pushing for more consistent opportunities.
"There is a lot of opportunity in Australian rugby over these next few years."
Rugby Australia's Director of High Performance, Peter Horne said: "Josh is an emerging young player who has had some Test experience and has a bright future ahead of him.
"We're looking forward to continuing to support him in Australian Rugby and seeing him work hard to further develop his game."
Queensland Reds coach Les Kiss said: "It's fantastic that Josh has extended. There is so much upside in what he offers as a hard, physical player with great lineout skills and being very coachable.
"He's ambitious and really wants to play at the highest level which is reflected in his appetite to work to improve his game."
