Central Goldfields Shire Council is launching a new project called Jumpstart High Street to help support local businesses in and around High Street, Maryborough.

As part of the project, Council will collaborate with businesses to develop the Mainstreet Action Plan to build a precinct-wide strategy and identify quickly implementable actions, which will have support and funding from Council.

Council is searching for 15 to 20 stakeholders who are committed to working together to develop and deliver the action plan.

Jumpstart High Street begins on Tuesday 18 August with weekly webinars and team meetings.

Businesses can choose their level of involvement and preferred time for the webinars at a survey, as well as providing feedback for the action plan at www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/jumpstart

Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said the action plan will help boost trade for High Street businesses.

"High Street is the central business district for Maryborough, which is the largest economic centre for our Shire. The Mainstreet Action Plan, which will be developed through the Jumpstart High Street project, will significantly enhance business for our local traders.

"The action plan will help support our local businesses as they face uncertain times and as part of our economic response and recovery. There will also be learnings from the project that we can apply in our smaller town retail areas.
