Keeping Autumn Leaves Off Streets

sweep-left.jpg

As autumn leaves fall across Monash, street sweeping helps keep local roads clean, safe and clear.

Our trucks remove leaf litter, dirt and debris from residential streets, shopping strips and activity centres. Most residential streets are swept once every five weeks, with busier shopping areas and activity centres cleaned more often.

While tree-lined streets are part of what makes Monash such a great place to live, they need extra attention during autumn when leaves build up more quickly. So you might see our teams out and about more often.

Collected leaves don't go to waste. They're sent to the same recycling facility as our food and garden waste and turned into compost for local farms and gardens. Between July 2025 and January 2026, we diverted nearly 900 tonnes of material from landfill, saving ratepayers close to $100,000.

If you notice an area that needs extra attention, let us know.
