Key Appointments To Synergy Board

  • Michelle Shepherd re-appointed as Chair of the Synergy Board for a second term
  • Tanya Rybarczyk appointed as Synergy Board member for three-year term
  • Peter Clough and Denise McComish to retire as non-executive directors

Energy and Decarbonisation Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson today announced key appointments to the Synergy Board, including Michelle Shepherd's re-appointment as Chair for a second three-year term.

Ms Shepherd has served as Chair of the Synergy Board since 2023. Her continued leadership will provide oversight and stability to Synergy, Western Australia's largest electricity generator and retailer, as it supports the State Government's energy transition.

Tanya Rybarczyk has been appointed as a non-executive director to serve three years.

Ms Rybarczyk is a highly regarded corporate leader in Western Australia and has extensive experience across a range of industries, including a more than 20-year career with Wesfarmers, where she formerly held the role of general manager of Kleenheat.

She is currently a director of West Australian Ballet.

Minister Sanderson thanked non-executive directors Peter Clough and Denise McComish for their service. Both will retire from the Synergy Board effective 8 May.

As stated by Energy and Decarbonisation Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:

"I congratulate Michelle Shepherd on her reappointment as Chair of Synergy and Tanya Rybarczyk who has been appointed to the Synergy Board.

"Michelle's ongoing leadership and expertise will support Synergy to continue powering on towards delivering the State Government's planned exit from State-owned coal-fired power by 2030.

"I would also like to thank Peter Clough and Denise McComish for their contributions and commitment to the organisation."
