Kimberley Joint Response Team Arrest, WA


On Thursday 22 September 2016, detectives from the Kimberley Joint Response Team (KJRT) charged a 29 year old man with historical child sexual offences as a result of their investigation into allegations of child abuse, WA Police say.

It will be alleged between 2004 and 2007 the man sexually assaulted a girl who was known to him. She was seven years old at the time of the first offence.

The KJRT was established through WA Police and the Department of Child Protection and Family Service (CPFS) to proactively investigate and react to issues identified as having substantial impacts across the Kimberley district. The main focus for the KJRT is child abuse related incidents and the aim of the KJRT is to provide a collaborative holistic response through government and non-government resources to incidents across the Kimberley District.

The man from the Kimberley district has been charged with:-

•Six counts of Indecently Dealing with a Child under 13 years and

•Two counts of Sexually Penetrates a Child under 13 years.

He is due to appear before the Broome Magistrates Court on 3 October 2016.
