King Tides Expected Over Anzac Long Weekend

Council is encouraging residents in low-lying areas to take precautions ahead of a weekend of higher than usual tides, including two consecutive king tides tipping 3.80 metres on Sunday and Monday.

The high tides are forecast to reach above three metres for seven days straight beginning on Thursday 24 April and continuing to Wednesday 30 April, with the King tide being shared across Sunday 27 and Monday 28 April at 3.80 metres at 8:53pm and 9:42pm respectively.

Council recommends residents in areas that are prone to minor flooding during high tides take necessary precautions.

Suburbs like South Townsville and Railway Estate may be impacted, along with Hanran Street and Ogden Street in the city.

Motorists are asked to observe any warnings and road closures.
