Our innovative new programme engages students across King's through a programme of activities.
King's Careers & Employability is delighted to be launching our Insights Programming, under the leadership of our Work-based Learning Unit.
This new programme of innovative work-related learning interventions takes place across the academic year, enabling employers a number of ways to engage students and researchers and takes place both in-person and virtually, supported by our partners, Practera.
Insights is directed towards undergraduate students in their final year (with a parallel stream for PhD students) with its main purpose to offer students an opportunity to develop their confidence through work experience, employability skills and to make a positive impact in their future careers by gaining an insight into different sectors, roles and cultures.
Driven by our careers enrolment data, allowing us to target the programme towards those who highlight the greatest challenge in building success towards their future, our new programme is underpinned by a focus on social mobility, sustainability and ESG, local engagement in London and alumni engagement with participants benefiting from interactions and projects that place these ideas at their heart.
Entering a labour market that is larger than it has ever been can lead to overwhelm from the breadth of choices available, so, we want to help our students and researchers find the options that suit them best. We particularly recognise the challenges that our students from under-represented backgrounds may face. Therefore, the aim of our Insights Programme is to positively support our students and researchers to find their place in their future careers.

Insights offers a year-long, structured programme of activities where participants will engage directly with employers and alumni, gaining the confidence and experience to help them as they make the transition from their current studies into their next steps and future careers.
Activities will allow participants to build new skills and networks, working alongside students from different academic disciplines and backgrounds, with successful completion gaining digital certification through our partnership with Accredible.
- Physical Business 'Treks' allow participants to explore the cultures of different organisations in London (and further afield), meeting alumni and employers and gaining access to environments they may not have previously considered.
- Work Shadowing allows participants to deepen their understanding of a given industry or job role, immersing themselves within an organisation under the guidance of alumni and supporters.
- Virtual Business Projects allow participants to solve challenges in groups, posed directly by employers on topics such as environmental and sustainable governance, international business development and branding.
Additionally, our PhD stream will permit researchers to develop live consultancy projects with employers.
