February 12, 2019 – Sussex, NB – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
Supporting businesses in rural communities helps create opportunities for business growth and good paying jobs for the middle-class and those looking to join it.
Sussex-based Kings County Mechanical Ltd. understands that in order to be competitive, companies need to be as efficient as possible. With the help of the Government of Canada, this welding and fabricating shop will access the expertise it needs to improve efficiencies in order to grow its business. The Government of Canada is providing a non-repayable contribution of almost $34,000 for the project through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).
Alaina Lockhart, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie and Member of Parliament for Fundy Royal, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA, along with Kings County Mechanical Ltd. officials, made the announcement today.
The Government of Canada is making smart investments that will create good, middle-class jobs in our country. It is helping small and medium-sized businesses to start-up, expand or modernize and supporting not-for-profit organizations to fuel business growth. Support for this project is one way the Government of Canada is working to achieve its Atlantic Growth Strategy outcome of long-term economic prosperity in the region.
“The Government of Canada is committed to working with businesses to help them increase their competitiveness so they can continue to create jobs and deliver real change for the middle-class and those working hard to join it.”
– The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA
“Small and medium sized businesses are the heart of the economy. I am pleased that the Government of Canada, through ACOA, is supporting Kings County Mechanical to develop its expertise and open up new opportunities for growth, which will benefit economic development throughout the region.”
– Alaina Lockhart, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie and Member of Parliament for Fundy Royal
“The support that ACOA is providing our business is not only helping to give our company good healthy growth but benefits our whole Sussex community by keeping people from around here employed in this skilled work.”
– Tony Bell, President, Kings County Mechanical Ltd.
The Government of Canada is investing $33,750 in this project through ACOA’s Business Development Program (BDP).
The BDP primarily assists Atlantic Canadian entrepreneurs who want to start a business, increase productivity or improve operations. Investments under the BDP address any gap that may arise if an application does not fit within ACOA’s Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) program.
The Business Development Program continues to build on the objectives of the Innovation and Skills Plan, a multi-year strategy to create well-paying jobs for the middle class and those working hard to join it.
